MIAMI: KISS Kruise Wedding: Glenda + Duane – Las Vegas Wedding Videographers

Duane is a supervisor at Advanced Design & Packaging and Glenda is an author of children’s book

I was in Nashville over 4th of July with Mom and sister. It was hot and my mom tires easily. We stopped at one point to let her rest for a bit. As soon as we got her up and moving something caught my attention out of the comer of my eye. I spotted a bright blue UK hat. I just got a glimpse of it as he quickly passed us on the street.

He seemed to be in a bit of a hurry but I said, nice hat as he passed and he said thanks and kept walking. We had probably walked another block or two before my Mom got tired again. We stopped at the Cadillac Ranch because they had an outdoor seating area and Mom drank sweet tea and rested. We  found a table inside because it was cooler and ordered sweet tea and appetizers. Then my phone rang and I answered it but couldn’t hear very well because of the band that was playing. So I stepped outside to take the call.

When I finished I walked back in and saw the hat again and I saw who was wearing it. I walked up and said, you are the guy in the hat that I passed on the street” and he said yes. We started talking about basketball then and I’m proud to say he was a True Blue fan. I was enjoying the conversation but thought that he was with someone because it seemed like to me when I went outside to take the call that someone else had been sitting there too. I asked him if he was from KY and he said he lives in Georgia in Villa Rica and I lived in Douglasville”. We laughed about it being such a small world and somehow the conversation got around to the concert he was attending Motley Crew and Poison. Then un-expectedly he asked, would you like to go I just happen to have an extra ticket?  After a little bit more discussion with my mom and sister, I had decided that I would go. I walked back over and told him I would go and we were trying to figure out where to meet and when. I invited him over and the “Hat” had him on the hot seat with Julie she drilled him about question of the history of KY basketball and I just shook my head and laughed. Why he stayed after the rounds of grueling questions I will never know! He was a brave, good natured soul is all I can say. I knew at that moment that I would be safe with him.

After the interrogation we went to the concert laughing about how ironic it all was. The funny thing is the more we talked the crazier it got.
We had a great time at the concert he said he was sorry they were such bad seats. We were after all only four rows back center stage. When we got to our seats there was this couple behind us and they commented on his “Hat”. They asked if we were from KY and he started telling them the story of how we met. They said it was a great story he told him, it’s all about the hat. The lady said No, it was fate. We all laughed and that was how we met and our fist date,”
Glenda recalled.

“The most memorable thing from our wedding day was the First Look. He looked at me like I was the most beautiful woman in the world. I when I saw him my heart melted,” said Glenda.

“The 3 details from our wedding which were our favorite are 1,the Cake from Divine Delicacies in Miami! My friend Pipar hand painted the cake topper to look like us (and my bouquet) with KISS faces. 2, my handmade bouquets for my sister and I. We made them from old brooches that where my great grandmother, grandmother, our moms and friends. I even had a handkerchief  that was my great-grandmothers that her son brought her back from the Philippines during WW 2. I used it as my beautiful base. 3, having Jack Russell of Great White sing “Save Your Love” as our first dance! I mean REALLY! And the amazing wedding vows from KISS songs. Truly one of a kind,” Glenda explained.

“If we could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, it would be to make sure you have lots of photos and video! Everything just goes by in a blur and you don’t remember half of it,” said the couple.

“Duane is a big rock music fan, KISS especially. So this was the perfect venue for our unique wedding,” Glenda said.

“We heard about Memory Lane Video from our photographer Larry Ankeny at Las Vegas Photo Group,” recalled the couple.

“Now that the wedding has commenced, we learned that planning a destination wedding is very stressful! You have no idea what the venue will look like, or who is baking your cake and finding a salon that will make your hair and makeup picture perfect is hard. We say make your plans and have faith in your judgment. Don’t second guess yourself. Everything will turn out perfect. We stressed way to much over those little things,” explained the couple.

“My advice to future couples on planning their wedding is to make sure the wedding is your vision and not your parent’s or friend’s. My wedding dress at first was influenced by my friends and when I went by myself to get my dress I found what I wanted,” Glenda said.

“We booked Memory Lane Video’s services because wanted a memory of that day to cherish for a lifetime. We never want to forget how we felt. We know in time that would fade but with a video all we will have to do is watch it again and we will be transported back to that magical time and place with all of the emotions,” explained the couple.

“On the day of the event, what we admired most about Memory Lane Video was we never knew they were there! They worked so quietly in the background that we totally forgot about them,”Glenda and Duane said.

“The necessity of video is simple, you’re not going to remember half of what happened and to truly experience the day you need a video. If you want a one of a kind video, choose Memory Lane Video,” explained the couple.

Glenda and Duane’s KISS wedding of course ended with a KISS Kruise Honeymoon! Where they got a wedding picture with KISS!
