Will was the one to pop the question and propose to Miya. Here’s how it began: It was the day after Thanksgiving. Will was hosting his Spoken Word show like any other Friday night. Unbeknownst to Miya, Will had collaborated with other people to set up the perfect evening. In the middle of one of his signature segues between performers, Will started to express his thoughts about love and how important it is to recognize the love that people give. Then he seamlessly went into a very unique poem. The poem was focused on and dedicated to the one and only Miya! In front of over 100 people, Will, filled with nerves and excitement, made it through his proposal poem. He got on one knee, and the rest is in the books! Miya had no idea that anything was going on!

Miya, being a wedding planner, wasn’t too busy in the month of May, at the time of engagement. However, it soon changed, and there were a lot of weddings leading up to her own. She had a milestone birthday in September and did not want to share the two events. When Miya spoke to her director about a possible wedding in 2019, the director suggested May of 2018. When she suggested it, Miya freaked out for a bit and then realized it was reasonable. Miya was content, planning within a 6 month period, rather than wait an additional year. She did want to have a wedding, but wanted to be Will’s wife even more!

“The ambiance and staff are remarkable. I work at the venue, so I knew first- hand how much love and care for each department at our resort provides.”, Miya states choosing the venue for their wedding day. “All of my vendors hold a special place in my heart since we work together closely in the industry. If I have to choose a couple, I would say Naakiti Floral. I know Randi, would capture every single vision I had and add a special touch to enhance my dreams into reality. She has several different options of dancefloor styles and shapes for riser and I love geometric things. I also love the fact that she knows I don’t fancy flowers, but provided my vision to incorporate sage into my bouquets. We also could not have done it without DENNIS SILKNITTER! That guy was a lifesaver! He filled in blanks that we didn’t know existed until they presented themselves. He was on top of EVERY ASPECT of the wedding. He kept my Bride from Freaking out and all of our wedding party in order ( & that alone was no easy task) Can’t Thank Dennis Enough!” exclaims the couple about all of her different vendors that attended her wedding, capturing and helping to create one of the best days that anyone can experience.

Miya did a lot of research about things that brides wish they had spent money on and why. Pinterest, word of mouth, and even Huffington Post all told her that Videography was definitely worth the money. “The fact that I will always be able to watch the memories and see special friends and family, was a done deal! I feel like it’s the most important detail of the special day!” Miya states on deciding to include videography for their wedding. The couple was first introduced to Ricky and John of Memory Lane Video in 2009 and fell in love with both of them immediately! Miya also states, “Their work ethic and ability to create ideas on next-level status sealed the deal for us. We were also able to add on a Grand Entrance video which will always be one of our favorite memories and make us think we were ready for the Big Hollywood screen!” The couple both agree that MLV is, hands down, the best company to film their wedding, and they wouldn’t even think of another vendor to share their special day. The couple really admired how MLV had every angle covered, but it was like they weren’t even there. “They knew how to stay out of sight while capturing every. single. moment.” The couple cannot express how important it was to capture their moments on video. “Life is so short & to be able to immortalize all that were there to share with us.
