Simpson is the owner and head instructor of Cobra Kai Jiu-Jitsu. Jena is a registered nurse at Desert Springs Hospital. Jena and Simpson met in the Filipino club at UNLV in 2006. Their first date was at Simpson’s student’s restaurant and it was right after he had got back from the ADCC American trials in New York and he wanted to celebrate with her.
“I remember being really nervous as I saw Jena walking in. She was wearing a red shirt and looked so pretty. I felt relaxed because she was easy to talk to and laughed at all my jokes,” recalled Simpson.
“The most memorable thing for me was seeing Jena walked down the aisle looking so beautiful in her dress. I never thought that I would cry but as soon as I heard the music and saw Jena walking towards me, I was overcome with emotion,” said Simpson.
“The most memorable moment from our wedding was our first dance. Simpson never dances so I was surprised to see how enthusiastic he was when our song came on. We had a lot of fun during the dance and every time I think about it makes me smile,” Jena recalled.
“The first favorite detail from the wedding was when the father of the bride, Ray, delivered his toast. He’s a quiet man and it was nice to hear him speak from the heart. Our second favorite detail was seeing our family and friends have fun on the dance floor. Our third favorite detail was the staff at Canyon Gate doing an amazing job of making sure everything ran smoothly and that we were stress free,” said the couple.
“We went to the Canyon Gate Open House and we liked how open the room was, the high ceiling, and the large windows. We especially liked the view from the balcony where the ceremony would be held,” Jena and Simpson recalled.
“We heard about Memory Lane Video at an Open House where we met Nikki and Ricky. They were really nice and answered all of our questions. We were impressed after seeing some of their videos,” said the couple.
“Looking back on our wedding, it wasn’t as stressful as we thought it was going to be. The cost of the wedding isn’t worth the stress. The most important thing is that our family and friends were there to celebrate with us,” explained Jena and Simpson.
“Our advice for couples planning their wedding is to take breaks once in a while. Wedding planning can be stressful and time consuming between researching, going to different venues and meeting with different vendors. Having a break gives you a chance to relax and enjoy each other’s company,” said the couple.
“The overall quality of Memory Lane Video is excellent. Prior to the event, they called to make sure they capture every detail. On the day of the wedding, we admired their professionalism and they kept us informed throughout the day,” recalled Jena and Simpson.
“During our wedding, it felt like it went by so fast and it’s impossible to remember every detail. Video allows us to look back and relive those moments. “Now that we are settled into our new home, we are planning to have our honeymoon in the Bahamas. We chose this location because we both enjoy warm weather and laying on the beach,” said Jena and Simpson
