Rachel is a Conference & Event Coordinator at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and Max is Co-owner/manager/trainer of SinCity Crossfit South in Anthem.
“Rachel and I actually met on Thanksgiving Day in 2007. It was our senior year of college at San Diego University and Rachel was finishing an internship and wasn’t able to get the time off of work to go home to Sacramento. Her sorority sister Jordan, invited Rachel over to her house for Thanksgiving,” Max recalled. “It turned out Max and Jordan’s mom were best friends and so Max was there for Thanksgiving too. We ended up sitting right next to each other at the table and immediately made a connection. Towards the end of the dinner, Jordan’s mom looked at Max and me and said we both should date. We all laughed and agreed, and eventually we did,” said Rachel.
“At our rehearsal dinner Max’s Godmother gave us some great advice. She told us to really listen to our minister as he was doing our ceremony and as we were reciting our vows. She told us to not just say the words, but really listen to them and take in what they mean. We both took that to heart, and tried very hard to live in that moment. We stared into each others eyes the entire ceremony, it felt like no one was there but us. It was such a special moment that neither of us will ever forget,” Rachel recalled.
“Originally we really wanted to get married in San Diego where we met, but upon weighing the pros and cons we decided on Vegas. Not only would it ease the planning, but it would also be such a fun destination for our friends and family to visit for a weekend. We only visited 2 venues and we knew Siena Golf Club was for us. We loved the water features and beautiful landscaping, you barely feel like you are in Las Vegas,” the couple explained.
“We just started researching videographers in Las Vegas and Memory Lane Video was one of the first we came across. Upon continuing our research, no one compared to Memory Lane in our minds. The cinematic videography is absolutely incredible, we truly felt like we were watching a movie. We also loved all of the music choices,” said Rachel and Max.
“Now that the wedding has commenced, I learned that although our wedding was incredible and everything I dreamed of, it is so much more than the wedding, it’s the marriage! For months leading up to the wedding our entire weekend was filled with planning and errands. I wish we had spent more fun time together really soaking in what we were about to do. I placed too much time and stress (and money) coming up with ideas for additional décor and unique touches. For example we had a candy bar that I never even saw, completely forgot about it! I hope some of our guests enjoyed it at least,” Rachel recalled.
“For future couples planning their wedding, try your best to have most of the planning done a month before. There are some things that simply cannot be done until you have your final counts, etc so having other things done and out of the way during this time is very helpful. Also, be sure you and your spouse have some time alone during the day to take it all in. When we were at our sweetheart table, we looked at each other, then looked out into the room filled with all of our loved ones and realized everyone was there because they loved and supported us. It was an incredible moment to share together that we wouldn’t have had otherwise,” Rachel explains.
“We realized at the end of the day pictures and video would be the only 2 things we truly had as keepsakes from our special day. We wanted a video memory of our excitement before the wedding, saying our vows to each other, and also just having fun with our friends and family. It will be so special to have this video that we can show our children and watch on our anniversaries,” said Rachel and Max. “We got the helicopter (aerial cinematography) which was an incredible surprise and a major wow factor for us and our guests! We were very happy with the fact that the videographers had us re-do scenes until they knew we got it right. Everyone was very discreet and non intrusive, we hardly realized they were there,” the couple recalled. “In 20 years, the video is one of the few things you will have to cherish the day by. Having your vows to each other and your speeches caught on camera is truly priceless. Also being able to show the video to a few loved ones that unfortunately couldn’t be at our wedding will be great. We can’t wait to see our video and filmed by Memory Lane Video,” said Rachel and Max.
Rachel and Max will be going to Montego Bay, Jamaica for their honeymoon. They wanted a tropical long vacation and ended up choosing Sandals resort so it can be as carefree as possible.
